If you are excited by discovering the impressive mountain landscapes of the High Atlas, this day trip from Marrakech is a Must.
Imlil is a charming little mountain village located at 64 km from Marrakech and can be reached trough the gorges of Asni, at the foothills of High Atlas Mountain.
Imlil village is the main starting point for all hikers who want to climb the famous Mont of Toubkal, the highest peak in Morocco and North Africa (4167 meters).
During this excursion, you will have the chance to explore the famous Asni valley with its beautiful surrounding trails, green fields and breathtaking views of Ghiraya river.
On the road, you will absolutely love the succession of well-preserved natural bastions, authentic Berber villages surrounded by large terraced crops, and if you are lucky, you may visit a local weekly Berber market in the village of Tahnaout or Asni.
Once you get to Imlil, you can hire a local mountain guide for a short trek in the mountains, or you can join a mule ride to the village of Armed to admire more panoramic views of the Atlas.
You can have lunch in a local restaurant or in a traditional Berber guest house in order to live a more authentic experience and discover the local culture.
